The Best Electronic Cigarette for 100% VG E Liquid
Many people ask this question, so I feel it is about time I dedicated a post to this.
Many of you converting to 100% VG e liquid might notice “wicking issues” i.e. the e liquid is not being absorbed by the electronic cigarette wick. This is typical with top coil atomizers shown in the picture below.
E liquid has to make its way up the wick into the chamber at a rate that keeps up with your vaping habits. For those taking the odd puff now and then, this will most likely be a non-issue, however for those; who like myself, like to sit back and “chain vape” you will quickly discover the wick becomes dry, and a toxic like burnt flavour quickly develops. This is a wicking issue.
The thicker the e liquid the quicker wicking issues occur. Basically the e Juice is struggling to make its way into the atomizer chamber at the rate you vape.

The good news is, there are 2 ways to solve this
The first is to thin the e liquid itself with de-ionized water. What this does when added in quantities of 5% is converts the Vegetable Glycerin (VG) to Aqueous Glycerin (AG). Many vendors use this instead of VG as it is:
- Easier to work with
- Thins the VG and causes less wicking issues
Simply apply the de-ionized water via syringe, shake the bottle and you’re good to go.
The second method, and one I advise to all my customers is to get a Kanger EVOD Starter Kit. I say starter kit because it makes no sense purchasing individual components or mixing your existing eGo batteries with the eVOD atomizer heads. eGo batteries; for example, restrict the Kanger eVOD atomizer airflow making it almost unusable.
Why the Kanger eVOD starter kit? – Simple, it uses a bottom coil design where e liquid is submerged in the liquid tank rather than placed above the reservoir. This means, the e juice does not have to absorb into the wick and travel to the atomizer, it simply gets sucked into the chamber as needed and unlike their top coil counter parts, will operate until every last drop has left the tank.
Where can I get a Kanger eVOD starter kit?
Another question I am asked a lot. As you can probably tell, Ichor Liquid no longer sells electronic cigarette hardware. We now specialize solely on our e liquids. Our goal is to improve on them, add to them and continue to work with our customers to produce a product that excels above the rest in quality (pitch over) :) I have collected a few sources where the Kanger eVOD starter kit can be bought and in a few different colours too.
Each starter kit includes 2 electronic cigarettes(Charge one while you use the other):
- 2 x Kanger batteries
- 2 x Kanger eVOD clearomizers
- 5 x replacable coil heads
- 1 x usb battery charger
